I was just reading an article on a program called slocate. It looks
really cool for finding files but I don't seem to have it on my SUSE
box. It seems to be specific to Fedora/Redhat. Is there something like
it for SUSE? Or what do I have to install to get it?

No, as previously posted, Suse has "locate". Which is a pity because slocate is better. Apart from the security angle which I switch off anyway (why not let people know about all files even those they can't read) it has slocate -i <Case-Insensitive-Search> and slocate -r <full-regexp-search> Pity, michaelj -- Michael James michael.james@csiro.au System Administrator voice: 02 6246 5040 CSIRO Bioinformatics Facility fax: 02 6246 5166
