Hi, Will first state that I am a total linux newbie - installed SuSE 9.0 3 days ago. Have been trying to install a linuxant driver for my hsf modem but I run into an error message stating I need to have the kernel-source package. This doesn't seem to be available on the CDs I have (I have the SuSE 9.0 personal set). I checked the package descriptions at suse.de for the professional edition and I think the file I need is kernel-source-2.4.21-99.i586.rpm which doesn't appear to be available on the suse ftp site or anywhere else. Not sure if I'm looking for the wrong file entirely / if I could use a different kernel-source package (I see a 2.4.20 or a 2.4.21-121) / if I'm looking for something which is only available to buy as part of the pro edition... Can anyone advise? Lily -- Nobody could do that much decoupage without calling on the powers of darkness

Put in CD1 and go to (as root)yast2-install software, then look for kernel in the search option. -- Gerrit Jan Eldering SuSELinux 9.0 KDE 3.1.4-48 Kernel 2.4.21-99

I don't have 9.0, but that package is not usually available on the personal package, only the professional version, or by FTP. For the later, you will have to wait some weeks, because they usually delay for a month or two before placing a new version on the server. SuSE wants to sell the distro, of course... -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
