NetworkManager (the daemon) always prefers system connections. Unfortunately there is a DHCP system connection by default, so to have your static IP user connection (created with KNetworkManager) start automatically, you have to go into YaST Network Settings and delete the system connection for your wired ethernet device. ???? I've set up mulitple static IP connections and never had to do that. I simply selected manual IP configuration. This is with 11.0. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Unless 11.0 behaved differently, you'll see what I mean if you try it again with the default DHCP system connection for your ethernet, a user-defined static IP connection with 'connect automatically' checked, and boot the machine on a network with a DHCP server that will serve your MAC address. The only way to get the static connection is to manually click it after login.
