[SuSE Linux] quickin/quicbooks/accounting pack for linux ??
1/ Jerry where can I download a copy , I am currently using a dos minimalist program for the company checking account , and would like to move it to the linux workstation. Can it list check by catagory , ie rent , purchases,ect... 2/ Any one know when gnu-cash will be out ?? 3/ Any one know of any thing more robust then cbb , ie asomething that will handle acc payable , perhaps even invantory on a very simplistic way , our bussines is a discount retialer , no two buys are a llike , so I wont deal with size/color/style , payroll would be nice as well. I would rather some thing gpl , but I wwould be willing to pay a reasonable amount of a packadge or moduels especialy if its multi user and the cost is within reason. Thanks all At 05:28 PM 4/30/1999 -0500, you wrote:

What is cbb ?? is it a checking app , or some sort of spread
sheet ??
Thanks

It's name is Check Book Balancing program. A nice little app that I use to keep my checking account data and reconcilliation. No where near as good as Quicken, but I don't need the complexity of quicken (I don't keep a home inventory nor do I have a stock portfolio to nurse) just to balance my check book. I am using CBB until GNUCash 1.0 is released. GNUCash is a Quicken replacement but is GPL'd. I understand I will have all of Quicken's power and ease of use.

JLK Linux, because it's STABLE, the source code is included, the price is right.

Yes. And it can report by group, date, catagory, etc... Do a google.com search for 'CBB'. you'll find it.
2/ Any one know when gnu-cash will be out ??
Go to www.gnucash.com (or .org or .net, I forget which) and find out.

The following site has tons of listing of financial software. Especially the LAST HALF of the web page... <A HREF="http://www.hex.net/~cbbrowne/financelinux.html"><A HREF="http://www.hex.net/~cbbrowne/financelinux.html</A">http://www.hex.net/~cbbrowne/financelinux.html</A</A>>

Samy, I forgot to mention that "MoneyDance", a Java app, is also available. Sean, the author, claims that it is a quicken clone with all of quicken's features. I didn't need something that big and, at the time, I didn't have the space left on my HD to download the extra 5MB of java runtimes needed. (Now I have 6GB of free space, :-) and, as I said before, I didn't need something that complicated. Also be aware that that MoneyDance is NOT GPL and costs $$. (Somewhere around $30, if I remember correctly). -- JLK Linux, because it's STABLE, the source code is included, the price is right. -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>

I just checked the MoneyDance site and notice that it is now free for individual use. Commerical or other use costs $25 -- JLK Linux, because it's STABLE, the source code is included, the price is right.
