software Mesa (no hardware acceleration)
OK, I give in. I have searched the archives, and done a whack of Google-ing, and come up with nothing useful. I could have sworn there was a discussion about this on the SuSE list back around Christmas, but I cannot find it.... I am trying to get Wolfenstein to start up correctly (in SuSE7.3, nVidia GeForce2 video) and I am getting this error: =-=-=-=-=-=-=-= GL_RENDERER: Mesa X11 *********************************************************** You are using software Mesa (no hardware acceleration)! Driver DLL used: libGL.so If this is intentional, add "+set r_allowSoftwareGL 1" to the command line when starting the game. *********************************************************** ...WARNING: could not set the given mode (3) ...loading libMesaVoodooGL.so.3.1: QGL_Init: Can't load libMesaVoodooGL.so.3.1 from /etc/ld.so.conf or current dir: /usr/local/games/wolfenstein/libMesaVoodooGL.so.3.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory failed =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= I remember something about the solution being a symbolic link - in /usr/lib???, but I cannot find any refernce to this. Anyone feel like pointing me in the right direction here so my nVidia card drops into the right mode? Clayton
Nevermind.... I figured it out. I gave up too easy. Had a think about it, and here's how I solved it (in case anyone is interested). I poked around in /usr/lib and found that libGL.so was s-linked to the Mesa driver instead of the nVidia driver, so I did this: su root cd /usr/lib rm libGL.so ln -s GL/libGL.so.1.0.2802.nv_glx libGL.so exit Tried wolfenstein again, and goly gee it worked.
