Hi After having switched from SuSE 7.2. to 8.1 I have the following nasty problem, which the 'free installation support' could not solve. Having started my machine, I can only once connect to my ISP. The second time Kinternet log says the following:
pppd-> stdin not read/write and $MODEM not set pppd: Connect script failed pppd died: Connect script failed (exit code 8)
I checked stdin before and after a dial-in. Both times it says: stdin rw-rw-rw- root root -> fd/0 fd/0 rw-rw-rw- root root -> null null rw-rw-rw- root root In the environment variables MODEM does not appear. I am using an Aceex USB modem. If I want a fresh connection I have to restart my computer. There must be amore elegant way to achieve this. Since using SuSE 7.2 nothing has been changed in the hardware. Thank you for your assistance and kind regards Jos van Boven
