[opensuse] VMWare Server and #error "No Module support in this kernel. Please configure with CONFIG_MODULES"
Hi,
I could build VMWare Server in both kernl...-desktop and -default. But
now I am getting
#error "No Module support in this kernel. Please configure with
CONFIG_MODULES" This is when it when it is trying to build the new kernel
modules for VMWare Server. This does not make any sense to me. Any
ideas?
Thanks,

Which version of opensuse, and which of VM server are you using? If the answer is 11.2 and 2.x, it is known that it does not configure unless you patch it. Yes 11.2 and 2.0.2 They created a new patch for me to test. I assisted
them in making the script to install on openSUSE. I even went back to
patch 1 and I get the same thing now where the script and patches worked.
Now I must have done something as I get this error. I even have removed
on kernel at a time and boot into the other and reinstalled them. Still
getting this error even with the old scripts that worked.before, so I must
have done something to now get this problem. The script checks to make
sure all components are installed before it continues. I am not sure
what to do to provide the VMWare person that created patch 2 that everyone
claims fix's problems with patch 1. If I had know about this problem I
probably would never have updated my main machine. I had 12 VM clients.
I have tried VirtualBOX to run them and all I am able to get to run is the
openSUSE milestones. VMWare iamges all my other images I have not been
able to get them to work unver Virtual BOX.

I have used it when I start a series of systems from scract. But how do I
use is to replace VMWare Server which runs on top of openSUSE 11.2.
I have a 1 TB disk that 3/4 is vmware clients and the rest is other stuff.
I aslo am unable to get the images to start vith VirtulBOX. It created
the machines just find. But will not boot. The only one of the 12 OS's
that boots is my SUSE 11.3 test systetm. I think it is between milestone
4 and milestone5.
