YAST, YOU & GRUB didn't talk to each other
Hi ALL, Well after all the good things that came from putting my new nVidia Quadro card, the Bug has bitten!! After everything worked so well, I used YAST YOU to get the nVidia update from SuSE. Although very slow to connect, once YOU started everything went perfect; YOU even alerter me to reboot when done to put the nVidia updates into effect. There were no YOU errors noted. Upon re-boot GRUB (I think) halted with this msg: Kernel (hd0,0) vmlinuz root=dev/hda3 vga=nil Error 23 : error while parsing number Press any key..... But pressing any key only gives a non-graphical screen of GRUBs menu choices. Choosing LINUX (the default) yeilds the same error, choosing FAILSAFE boots only to a text screen and X will not start. Something associated to the nVidia update has screwed up GRUB. Any suggestions? Thanks ......... PeterB

Change nil to normal..I'm not sure that nil is valid arguement. You can change it for good in /boot/grub/ by editing the menu file. -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. I'll tell you what you should see.
