We want 8.2 on our clients because of the nice kde and other frills that our users will appreciate. But what's the point in upgrading the server which runs command line only? Is there anything in 8.2 which improves NFS and NIS for example? Or am I looking at this in the wrong way. Thanks, Steve.
Steve, I doubt that you'd see any benefit upgrading the server unless the apps that the clients run are run from the server (thereby giving you the new versions). If you just use the server for NIS and NFS for data storage then I can't see any gain. Damian fsanta wrote:

Hi Damian , hi everyone. Thanks. That's what I thought. I'll leave the server alone. Oh, I've always wanted to run apps from the server. Would I have to mount the whole tree from the server on the client? Is that how you do it? Cheers, Steve. On Friday 02 May 2003 11:11, Damian Ohara wrote:

Hint: look for the LTSP project then you just update one machine (answers your other question) and your clients are using their PC's as terminals meaning they use the apps on the server. -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx
