Is there a java amd64 plugin for firefox. I downloaded the amd64 jre and sdk versions of java 1.5.0_6 and neither had the /plugins dir like the i386 documentation suggests ? I also found it strange that installing the java plugin via YaST2 inserted the i386 plugin yet it didnt work when restarting firefox ? Which also makes me wonder, so its ok to install i386 rpms into an amd64 version of SUSE ?

Did you close Firefox and delete the file ~/.mozilla/firefox/pluginreg.dat? Doing so forces Firefox to re-register the installed plug-ins. Try that and see if the plug-in doesn't show up in about:plugins. Note: you may have to 'poke around' in ~/.mozilla and below to find pluginreg.dat... the precise location seems to vary from system to system. regards, Carl

No. There is niether a Java plug-in nor WebStart for x86_64. The x86_64 JRE/JDK do not include these components, among others. -- Bryan J.
