Thank you for taking the time reading this. Some of the commonly available gateway appliances (i.e. SMC or 3 com) which are used for internet sharing in a small LAN also incorporate a printserver. Network printing is functionning with 'lpring' but I have not have any success with CUPS. I suspect that the printserver in the gateway appliance uses 'lpring'. How would CUPS have to be installed/tweaked on a linux PC in order for the gateway appliance to recognize and accept the CUPS print queue? You should probably be looking for a "Device URI" similar to "socket://<IP address of printer>:<port number>. In the KDE Printer Manager (Control Centre > System > Printing Manager) you should probably choose Network printer (TCP) in the Add new printer wizard, and take it from there. HTH Kevin
