[opensuse] Firefox asking for the password where it shouldn't.
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, Everytime I load a page from our wiki, I get a popup prompting for the FF master password. I think it is triggering on the word "Login" of the page. Is this avoidable? I do not want to have my master password active unless it is really needed, ie, after I click on login. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Check this: http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries#Security. Name: security.ask_for_password Type: Integer Meaning: Determines when Mozilla Mail should ask for the master password. 0 (default): Only the first time it's needed 1: Every time it's needed 2: Every n minutes, where n is the value in security.password_lifetime. security.password_lifetime is integer set to default 30 (minutes) Default behavior is to ask for master password as soon as Firefox encounters login form on a any web page, and once it is entered it will not bug you for other web pages until you close it. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

That is what is happening, it triggers on every page from the wiki. I restarted FF a while ago, and as I have dozens of wiki pages opened, I got prompted for the master password a dozen times or more, which I had to refuse one by one. One refusal should be enough. Something in our wiki must be making FF think that it has to prompt me for the password, and that something, if it is not the "login" word, must be hidden. In fact, if I search for the word "password" on the source code of the page, it is found several times.
The word "password" does not appear on any of the current settings in the about:config pages. But the behaviour I get is that the password is remembered for about half an hour. But it is not that: I do not want to login the wiki, and I do not want to login anywhere. I do not need, now, for FF to ask me for the master password when I do not want to enter anywhere that needs it. So, when I get to a wiki page, I get prompted for my master password, and I refuse. I navigate to another wiki page, and I get the prompt again, and again I refuse. I try another page, the same. I know that if I enter my password FF will remain silent as I browse from one page to the next in the wiki, but I know that I'm browsing with a "loaded gun" and I don't want that. I want FF to ask for my password the moment I get to the login page, not before - and this is probably a failure of our wiki programming, not of FF. The only place where I see this behaviour is in our wiki. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. I tried around and yes, it is wiki. Forums are not affected. Check with guys on openSUSE web, is that connected with new login manager. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
