[opensuse] bug 885655 - can someone with the right permissions please summarize it?
See http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=885655 specifically, I would like to understand the reasoning for adding 'yzpper' as a symlink to 'zypper'. The opposite is being done in bug#902398, where 'zast' was needlessly removed as a symlink to 'yast'. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (12.6°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

"Because we have zast" :)

Well, zast was remove after yzpper was added ... so probably now we should expect yzpper to disappear as well :) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Well, the y <-> z typo can come from typing on a keyboard with an unknown keyboard layouts (QWERTY vs. QWERTZ), while a V is just looking similar. Have a nice day, Berny -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

The original post was about adding 'yzpper' as a symlink to 'zypper'. That's a common type of type, letter inversion, like typing "hte" for "the". Andrei added the "zast" vs "yast" item., so I see your point, but on the phone the X Y and Z are all on the 9 key. I'm glad late model phones have more screen real estate and properly laid out keyboards, even if a bit cramped. I hated sending SMS from the old phones! Heck, low pixel count or reading without my glasses, the V and the Y do look similar. -- A: Yes. > Q: Are you sure? >> A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. >>> Q: Why is top posting frowned upon? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Also if you've learnt to type using a QWERTZ layout and suddenly find yourself using a QWERTY instead.

I find that I can "type" much faster using the 0-9 keypad than any touchscreen keyboard. Also, with a keypad I can type without watching what I'm typing. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (3.8°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

The y / z switch is a feature to support people that switch between german and english keyboards, which famously switch the location of z and y (but no other letters ... only special characters are switched besides). Thats why we had zast and now yzpper. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Perhaps using a German keyboard layout affects one's sense of humour and ability to recognise puns and word play in English. -- This isn't life in the fast lane, it's life in the oncoming traffic. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I can't say I got the pun either. What was it? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (3.9°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - free dynamic DNS, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I guess the actual question was - why remove zast if adding yzpper at the same time.
Exactly, that is what I trying to figure out. Well, I just don't think there was much if any reason for removing the 'zast' symlink. It's sad really, more time has been wasted on discussing this issue than it would have taken someone to re-add that link .... -- Per Jessen, Zürich (3.9°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - free dynamic DNS, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
