Is it possible to establish an ftp connection ...
...to the machine on which ftpd is running? I imagined it would be a simple way to test whether I had properly set things up. But trying to connect to the numeric internet address yields only an empty directory. What am I doing wrong? jim bennett

When you're able to login it works. Whether you'll be able to see and grab a file depends on permissions and ownerships. So what does 'ftp aa.bb.cc.dd' and the login procedure produce (copy&paste please). Theo -- Theo v.
