Hello Linux folkz, I'm using IDE ITAPI CDRW emulated as a SCSI device /dev/sr2 to write CDs. Sometimes especially when I'm writing music CDs it gets locked. I can't unlatch it with eject -r /dev/sr2 command and SCSI bus just keeps resetting itself infinitely. So I'm rebooting the whole Linux box just to open this damned CDRW tray. Isn't it weird? Does somebody know any method of unlocking IDE CDRW without rebooting the whole box or I should just go and buy true SCSI CDRW? Thanks in advance for any ideas. Alex
<p>I once had this problem before I upgraded from Mandrake to SuSE. I had corrected it by disabling the automount and not use certain kde cdwriter program. XCDROAST is another one that locks the cd quite well in certain circumstances. gcombust works better when it doesn't do frisbies. cdrecord off the command line works best.
