Hi All, I'm looking for any papers, publications or benchmarks between SuSE Linux and SunOS/Solaris OS's. I've searched alot via Google but haven't found any solid numbers - I'm interested in stats ranging from pure OS activities such memory management, context switching, system call/signal handling speed etc to things like network performance (UDP/TCP). Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, -John _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com

MS windows is about 1.5 times more expensive than linux... Op dinsdag 27 augustus 2002 09:52, schreef John Quincy:

Make sure whatever papers or statistics you look at define the version of Solaris as either SPARC or x86. You can expect to see different metrics depending on the type of architecture you're dealing with. So it wouldn't be fair to compare SuSE to a Solaris machine with a SPARC processor. As for the stats, I'd check Sun's website. Search for benchmark and I'm sure you'll find something. -----Original Message----- From: Richard Bos [mailto:allabos@freeler.nl] Sent: Thursday, August 29, 2002 5:43 PM To: SuSE Linux Subject: Re: [SLE] Looking for comparison between SuSE and Solaris/SunOS Op dinsdag 27 augustus 2002 20:33, schreef Richard Bos:
