[SuSE Linux] VCN: Keyboard problems with KDM+Xvnc+SuSE 5.3
Hiya, I'm using SuSE 5.3 with Login GUI set to "Graphical", Display Manager set to "KDM" and Shutdown behavior of KDM set to "root". My linux machine doesn't have its own monitor, so I disabled the display ":0" within the file /usr/lib/X11/xdm/Xservers. I'm starting the Xvnc server out of the same file as display ":1". The Xvnc Server is automatically started at bootup and when you connect to it (Vncviewer/win98), the Login window of KDM is displayed requireing username and password. Now my problem: The keyboard mapping doesn't work at all. I'm using a german keyboard, but I think that doesn't matter, because there is not a single key transmitted in the right way. Because of this I'm not able to log in. I also tried to use XDM as Display Manager, but without any success... I guess its just a configuration problem, but I'm not able to solve it without help... This is my /usr/lib/X11/xdm/Xservers file: # $XConsortium: Xserv.ws.cpp,v 1.3 93/09/28 14:30:30 gildea Exp $ # # Xservers file, workstation prototype # # This file should contain an entry to start the server on the # local display; if you have more than one display (not screen), # you can add entries to the list (one per line). If you also # have some X terminals connected which do not support XDMCP, # you can add them here as well. Each X terminal line should # look like: # # XTerminalName:0 foreign # # Note: The vt07 is required to start the local X server on the virtual # console 7. This avoids conflicts with gettys of /etc/inittab. # #:0 local /usr/X11R6/bin/X :0 vt07 -quiet :1 local /usr/local/bin/Xvnc :1 tty07 -geometry 1280x1024 -depth 24 -rfbwait 120000 -rfbauth /root/.vnc/passwd -rfbport 5901 -httpport 5801 Cheers, Axel Suppantschitsch ---------- Multimedia Productions (IKT) Wirtschaftskammer Steiermark <A HREF="http://www.wkstmk.at</A">http://www.wkstmk.at</A> - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>
