John-- Are you compiling from source, or do you want to install a prebuilt binary? I've never installed a binary, but I've compiled probably a dozen or more copies of Apache on SuSE 9, and I've never had any problems with it -- it should be a snap. If you want to install PHP as well, download them both and go through the procedures in PHP's INSTALL file -- they will help you install both. You can install Apache without PHP if you want, though. Without PHP, it will be one of the easier compilations you'll ever do. You could probably just use Yast to install a binary, though, but I don't know if that will get you the latest version. I download these packages from suse team site. -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1016347 Feb 9 14:06 apache2-2.0.53-0.1.i586.rpm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5344751 Feb 9 14:06 apache2-2.0.53-0.1.src.rpm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 232327 Feb 9 14:06 apache2-devel-2.0.53-0.1.i586.rpm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1915395 Feb 9 14:06 apache2-doc-2.0.53-0.1.i586.rpm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 94936 Feb 9 14:06 apache2-example-pages-2.0.53-0.1.i586.rpm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 246458 Feb 9 14:06 apache2-prefork-2.0.53-0.1.i586.rpm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 253323 Feb 9 14:06 apache2-worker-2.0.53-0.1.i586.rpm -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 70299 Feb 9 12:10 apache2.changes -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 678052 Feb 9 14:06 libapr0-2.0.53-0.1.i586.rpm Well i also have to download the latest php rpm, haven't i? PS. I tried once to install apache 2.0.53 on a suse 9.2 pro ( i did a rpm -Uvh (the above packages) ) but when i installed the php from the CD's apache gave me a "segmetion fault" when i loaded the php library. Do you know what happened to apache?
