Usually you can just select print to PDF instead of using your standard printer. You can check with utilities > printing > printing manager which should list the possibility to print to PDF. You must have ghostscript installed. You can check from a console by typing gs, which should start up a postscript viewer. -- JDL -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

If you're running the KDE desktop, you can use Kprinter to print to PDF. -- Use OpenOffice.org http://www.openoffice.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well the build in solution are not that convenient. You can use OpenOffice or KDE-Printing-System for doing so (I don't know gnome, sorry). But IMO the most convenient solution is to use the distiller.ppd with Cups. Check this out: http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answers/Applications_GUI_Multimedia/Sett... There is also an extended how-to where you can also use sendmail for delivery if needed. It should work out of the box. There many ways, depending on what program you want to use and from what environment. For instance, kde print manager has a virtual pdf printer. OpenOffice can both export to pdf and print to pdf (internally) if you create the printer with "/usr/lib/ooo-2.0/program/spadmin". Or you can install a pseudoprinter with cups. There is another solution via email, I have heard. There is also a manual way: any program can usually print to file, which in Linux means a postscript file, and these can be converted to pdf using ps2pdf script, which is part of the typical installation. There are other tools if you use latex, allowing indexes and extra things. There is pdftk to manipulate pdfs afterwards. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
