That is worth a try. On having similar problems, all printers configured in Yast were removed and left as un-configured before using cups.

Can you please post your response to the list as otherwise list subscribers following the thread will miss part of the posting?

I did try removing the Yast2 related printer and then tried locahost:631. Strange thing is 631 comes right up and I can select "Add a Printer". However, 631 hangs on "looking up localhost".
