Thanks for the suggestion. However, I have tried that also. Maybe I should use Yast2 abd remove everytging lp0 related then try 631
<snip> That is worth a try. On having similar problems, all printers configured in Yast were removed and left as un-configured before using cups. I did try removing the Yast2 related printer and then tried locahost:631. Strange thing is 631 comes right up and I can select "Add a Printer". However, 631 hangs on "looking up localhost". Using a browser on localhost works, and ping 192.0.0.1 works as root or as a user. -- 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email:" n5xwb@windstream.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Gizmo: bmw_87kbike / via Skype: n5xwbg BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Making headway! I did get 631 to come up finally. It offered a selection of drivers but would not accept the driver I chose. So, (as root) I changed owners of /usr/share cups and /usr/share/foomatic to lp:lp. Now 631 works! However the Test Page presents an error "application/postscript" is not supported. I think SuSE installed gutenprint and /usr/share/ghostscript/fonts is there as root:root. And just running "lp /etc/hosts" states "no destination printer available." So, 631 did set it on exit -- 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email:" n5xwb@windstream.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Gizmo: bmw_87kbike / via Skype: n5xwbg BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
