re: [SLE] Linux Install on Conmpaq Proliant 5000 Server
Hi,
I am using SuSE 8 which works fine on my own workstation but locks up early in the install process on a Proliant 5000 ... it's a dual P200 (pro I think) with 512Mb memory and a couple of SCSI disk arrays (thinking of making it 1 array with 4, 5 if I can figure how to swap the enclosure, 9GB HD's in a RAID 5 array). I'm using the Pro edition, not server, which I can't afford (particularly since the machine is at home) :-)
Any ideas?
Thanks

James, I'm no expert on the Proliant line, but Compaq (HP) sends me tons of CDs for them. In particular they send me a set of "Quickstart CDs" fairly often. I think that they have some Linux specific files and drivers on there. Do you have those for your machine? and have you checked to see if there is anything you need to run before you try to install SuSE. BTW: My wife works for Equant in Atlanta, GA. If you have intercompany mail, maybe she could send a recent set of quickstart CDs to you. There are no drivers on the smart start cd's. Do you have any error messages or panics ? If no error messages try taking out some ram or running the memory tests Andrew -----Original Message----- From: Greg Freemyer [mailto:freemyer@NorcrossGroup.com] Sent: Monday, July 01, 2002 11:01 AM To: James.Rocks@equant.com; suse-linux-e@suse.com Cc: Barbara Freemyer Subject: re: [SLE] Linux Install on Conmpaq Proliant 5000 Server
