[opensuse] Search KDE 4 Application Launcher
In KDE 3, it was possible to search through the application launcher, by typing a "/", after opening the menu, and then start typing the app name. This does not seem to be available in KDE 4. Is there some way to enable it? tnx jk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You should be able to open the app menu (click or keyboard) and simply start typing. The search field is at the top of the menu and, at least on my default KDE4 installs, has keyboard focus. I use this feature all the time. C. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well, it doesn't work for me. The only thing I can do is type the first letter of items shown in the menu to select them. I don't see any search field and I can't search. I have the menu set for classic mode. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Aha, well.. you didn't say that :-) There is a big difference between Classic Mode and the default Application Launcher. The default App Launcher works as advertised... search is quick and easy. Classic Mode... no idea. I don't see any option for search, and I get the same results as you describe. I'll have to step back here since I haven't used Classic mode since... well since KDE 4.0.1 :-P Maybe time for a feature request?
