We are running OpenSuSE 11.1 with KDE 4 on a Sony Vaio (screen resolution 1366x768). For some reason, the task manager applet in it fails to group multiple windows belonging to the same application as it normally would (i.e., you open 10 images in GIMP, they all end up under the same icon heading in the task manager, and you need to click that heading to select the window you want to go to). Instead, on that Vaio you would get a bunch of stubs of a truly minuscule size (some as small as 1 mm).

Any idea what may be amiss there?

Hi, Just for sure, did you checked the task manager settings? Right click on the unoccupied part of task manager. HTH.
