Erik, I have SuSE 7.3 and had VMware Express and used Volker's HowTO. I upgraded to Workstation 3.0 and used Volker's HowTO. It worked well unitl I had to reboot and then it would not work not matter what. I deleted and reinstalled Wkstn 3.0 this time and DID NOT use Volker's HowTO. As you have used Volker's HowTo, the missing files and symbolic links are back even if you deleted and reinstalled. Please try a reboot or a shutdown :-) Would be interesting to know the result, and you do it for us :-)
