Hi, I forgot who asked the question but here is soem info related tot the original SuSE boot screen (green and white with lizzard). The option is under framebuffers as config_fbcon_splashscreen=y. This is the SuSE default settign so it should be there. As you mentioned, you have a plain installed system. In SuSE 7.2, 2.4.4 this screen only appears if you boot 800x600. With kernel 2.4.16 you boot 1024x800 and it is gone. In SuSE 7.3 it appears when you boot 1024x800. Hope his helps, Regards, Armand Deze e-mail en de inhoud daarvan is vertrouwelijk. I've been booting graphically under 7.3 in 1024x768 mode just fine. (Which is the standard SVGA resolution closest to the numbers you're posting.) I've booted it both under SuSE's 2.4.10 and 2.4.16 successfully without problems. I've even turned it off and turned it back on again when I was bored, both for Lilo and for the boot sequence. I just wish the 1024x768 splash screen could use my 85hz scan rates; it's a little flickery at 60hz, albeit safer for everybody's monitors. :-)
