I recently upgraded to KDE 2.2.1 and kdenetwork 2.2.1. Now I have Kmail 1.3.1. My problem is that now, with Kmail 1.3.1, I cannot send any mail. Every time I try to send a message I get an error message that says: "Response: 550 not local host xxx.com(or net), not a gateway" What's going on here? Thanks,
Your SMTP relay server entry in KMail seems flarked. I would check that and make sure you are trying to relay off the right server. * Jerry Van Brimmer (jerryvb@vei.net) [011001 18:10]: ->I recently upgraded to KDE 2.2.1 and kdenetwork 2.2.1. Thanks for your reply Ben. Unfortunately I don't know how to do what you suggest. Could you make it a little more simple for this simpleton. Thanks, BTW, I am now using Balsa as my mailer, it sends mail just fine. But I want to use Kmail! On 2001.10.01 18:33:26 -0700 Ben Rosenberg wrote:

What I ment is that you should check and see if the server that you have specified as the outgoing mail server is correct. Often isp's have different names for their outgoing and incoming mail servers..eg. smtp.ips.net and mail/pop.isp.net. I have had several accounts at isp's over the years that have done this..you might check this out. Some email clients bitch if they can't resolve the exact server that is specified and I think kmail is cranky in this respect. Check out the website of your isp and find out the exact naming convention. No, that's not it Ben. I use the same smtp entry in Balsa and it sends mail just fine. Any more ideas? On 2001.10.02 15:56:14 -0700 Ben Rosenberg wrote:
