Greetings, I posted something about this to the autoinstall list. Upon reflection, I think this is a more general question. When I install SuSE 8.2 Professional (or the ftp version, this doesn't seem to matter), on a Dell PowerEdge 2650 with PERC 3/DC RAID controller, the installer hangs upon detecting hard disk controllers. Some experimentation has narrowed it down to the fact that SuSE sees the PERC 3/DC as both a MegaRAID (correct -- loads megaraid driver) and a QLogic 1280 (incorrect -- qla1280 loads and locks system). So, I can install the box using the manual installer, answering yes/no to various prompts about whether I should load a given driver or not. But, I'd prefer to avoid this in the future. Any ideas on how I could either (a) prevent the qla1280 from loading; or (b) prevent the hardware detection from happening on the raid controllers, assuming that I load the megaraid driver from the commad line or info file? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! -p Pat Hirayama IT / Server Operations Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center phirayam@fhcrc.org
