When I format a partition or an LS120 floppy disk ext2, a directory, lost+found, is added to the partition or floppy. What is the function of that directory? If there is no file "in" it, is it safe to delete the directory? Thanks dj tuchler

It's where blocks that can't be re-associated with their files after an fsck. If you're are missing dissertation.txt after a nasty crash you might find it there.
