[SuSE Linux] Lost Masquerading in 6.1 Upgrade
I just upgraded to SuSE 6.1. I am on the supplied 2.2.5 kernel. I had IP masquerading enabled on my previous 5.2 installation. But now I am getting the error message: "System lacks IP forwarding -> masquerading not enabled" If I lack IP forwarding, does that mean I have to recompile the kernel to get this option included? It seems more likely that such a common feature as IP masquerading would be included in the supplied 2.2.5 kernel. Bullseye! I set IP_FORWARD=yes, rebooted and now it works perfectly. Thanks, Juergen, you saved me a lot of work recompiling the kernel. (It would have been fun, though :) Dwight -- Dwight Johnson All the Latest dwj@linuxtoday.com Linux News 360-681-6961 ------------------->><A HREF="http://linuxtoday.com</A">http://linuxtoday.com</A> -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>
I had the same result here and got very good help from the list. There are a few modules missing which you will have to downland from the SuSE web site. It's all in a small file called kernmod.tar. After unzipping, put these files in the proper location, restart the PC and it worked here. Regards, Michael Doerner
