Hi all!!! Well guess what?? I have a question...... I am trying to make a firewall for a small network of 5 Win9X PCs and one Linux box. I have managed to set up all the networking part of linux and everything works fine! I can ping machines from linux, PCs can ping me too, they can even view the default page of Apache on my linux box. What I would like to achieve now, is to set-up my modem on the linux box (typical PPP connection to my ISP 56Kbps) and allow the Win9X to view the internet for e-mail (pop3) web pages (www) and also Napster and other such mp3 utilities that they tend to use on a relatively frequent basis. I have taken a look at the firewall scrpit that came with the 7.2 installation of SuSE that I have but I have NO IDEA what to do and how to set it up. The scenario will be like this: Modem on COM1 of the Linux box. All Win9X have a 10Mbps HUB that they connect to eachother and the linux box connects to the same hub via a rtl card which I have configured as eth0. The internal Win-Network has the following IP structure: 192.168.0.X / 255.255.255.0 The linux-box is configured with a static IP: 192.168.0.100. Can someone please tell me which parameters to edit in the firewall script, or even better, if someone has something like this already running and works fine, I would love a copy of their firewall script!!!! I would be obligated!! Thanks folks! Looking forward to your reply. Chris

I've emailed Chris my firewall script directly - if anyone else wants a copy, drop me a line (just so as to not clog up the list). Or grab it from http://www.jon.fl.net.au/files/rc.firewall.sh - please be aware that it *IS* a work in progress, is not perfect, and should not be used in a PRODUCTION environment, as I've probably left something unplugged.
