[opensuse] how to suppress YOU update prompt for locked packages?
Hi All, In re: oS 11.4 / GNOME 2 / x86_64 I got tired of orange skies and blue skin on YouTube and reverted to flash-player-11.1.102.63-0.2.1.x86_64 I've locked the package in 'Software Management' but YOU is still warning me that this package needs to be updated. How do I suppress this warning? TIA & regards, Carl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hi All,
In re: oS 11.4 / GNOME 2 / x86_64
I got tired of orange skies and blue skin on YouTube and reverted to flash-player-11.1.102.63-0.2.1.x86_64
I've locked the package in 'Software Management' but YOU is still warning me that this package needs to be updated.
How do I suppress this warning?
TIA & regards,
Carl
Answering myself: The updater applet can't be set to ignore updates for locked packages, so, after confirming the lock was properly set both in YaST2 'Software Management' and zypper, I disabled the update checker panel applet and have reverted to checking for updates manually every few days using the YOU module. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

that panel applet that was alerting is _not_ YOU, instead it is packagekit....which is (imo) broken on arrival, so right click and disable is the best thing to do to that broken sign waver.. and, then (as you say) use the real YOU occasionally.. dd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, that's it, you have to remove package kit from the installation. It is broken. It not only does not obbey locks, it removes them! - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R.
