Hi, I finally purchased a scsi scanner (old model Hp Scanjet IIcx) compatible with SuSE8, but I have problems in its installation. SuSE not recognize it, I believe that initially the problem is with scsi card (Adaptec ISA AHA 1522A) that is not recognized. How can I do to solve this problem? Thank you very much Thadeu

Hi Thadeu, Did you have a look at the component data base (http://cdb.suse.de) or at the support data base (http://sdb.suse.de) already? A SCSI card, especially one from Adaptec, should not be a problem to configure, though I have to admit that I do not remember anything about it by heart:-) It possibly might be one line to be added to /etv/modules.conf or similar. On my box, I got SuSE 8.0 and an Advansys card, I got the line: INITRD_MODULES="advansys reiserfs ide-scsi" in the file /etc/sysconfig/kernel, so maybe in your case it should read something with the adaptec instead of advansys, and then you should be done. The exact info, however, is hopefully to be found on the component data base. Cheers ... Wolfi -- GMX - Die Kommunikationsplattform im Internet. http://www.gmx.net
Suse 8.0 HP Scanjet 5P Old Symbios Logic SCSI card Had similar problems getting the Scanner to work despite the correct module being loaded. Yast2 did not detect the card, and manual configuration did not work. Using sane-find-scanner helped. Then I followed with Yast2. It worked despite showing a few errors. The re are a couple of articles in Suse data base re this. Brian Marr On Sunday 04 August 2002 08:43, wolfi_z@gmx.net wrote:
