Hello SuSE folkz, I want to be able to securely telnet to my box over Internet. If I would do it over SSL it means that another outside box I'm telneting from should have SSL installed as well, but it's not always possible. Is there any way to secure telnet connection if SSL is not available on a client outside box. Thank you in advance for any thoughts or suggestions. Alex

It need to be installed on both host (server and client). It's what you want.

If configured with DSA options and authenticating hosts would you say ssh is secure enough that you would leave the ssh port open to the Internet? I need a simple way to telnet/X/uucp to a box on the net and was looking at FreeS/Wan, but could not get FeeeS/Wan properly configured. ssh seems much easier to work with for this use. Greg Engel

Greg Engel Greg, I would not leave it open to the whole world unless you're providing a service to the whole world. Thats my opinion, however.
