Hi all, I thought I'd change my bootsplash screen from the default KDE one. I replaced /usr/share/splash/bootsplash-1024x768.jpg with the image I wanted, yet the machine still boots with the old image. So ... where's it finding the old image? ;-) SuSE 8, BTW (I'm using the framebuffer console mode 791 (1024x768)) Cheers, sjb

I am not sure about GRUB, but you can disable the rest of the graphical mode stuff by editing /etc/sysconfig/bootsplash (via yast2 or manually, either way works). Set spash, 'no'. If you want /all/ text you can change the boot init from 5 to 3. Changing the boot init can be done by editing /etc/inittab and setting the default init to '3', or it can be modified in yast2 under runlevel config -jeric -- JericAtSbcglobalDotNetwork 10:50am up 15 days, 2:39, 7 users, load average: 0.24, 0.07, 0.02
Hi, I had the same problem in 8.1, and finally figured out how to setup boot splash and animation with grub (with lilo you probably have to run "lilo -v") in 8.1. http://snow.prohosting.com/guru4mac/linux_tips_and_tricks.html#27 On Thursday, December 5, 2002, at 12:20 PM, sjb wrote:
