[opensuse] Problems running KDE-Four-Live-4.4.1 image as LiveUSB
Hi Listmates, I'm trying to run the latest KDE-Four-Live-i686-4.4.1 image as a LiveUSB device on my ACER TM-6291 notebook but after booting I get the error message: 'couldn't find live image configuration' file' and on the next line 'reboot in 120 seconds'. After rebooting it happens again. I made everything by the instructions on the webpage: http://en.opensuse.org/Live_USB_stick The donloaded image works well on a CD. Any advice? Thanks, Paul -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi I used this whilst testing 11.2: <> Get Release Candidate 1 Today! What are you waiting for? Grab the milestone release today! Downloads are available at software.opensuse.org/developer/ now. Note, if you need to try the live CD on a machine with no CD-ROM drive, you can copy it to a USB key with the following command: dd if=image.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M Replace “image.iso” with the name of the ISO image that you have downloaded, and replace “sdX” with the actual device name of your USB drive. Be careful! This will erase the target device, so make sure you have the correct device name and have any vital data backed up! The next and final release candidate is scheduled to be released on October 29, 2009. See the detailed roadmap on the on the wiki. <> But it looks as though that has changed. Would be grateful to find out how you got on. L x -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

If you want a live usb image, it's available at: http://en.opensuse.org/Factory#How_can_I_install.2Fupdate_it.3F Also, that was a date for the 11.2 release candidate. If you're at kde 4.4.1, you're probably using 11.3 RCs. -- Thanks, Tom (retired penguin) openSUSE 11.3M2 x86_64, KDE 4.4.0 Kmail 1.13.0, FF 3.6 linxt-at-comcast.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I think he's actually using the KDE Four Live image I produced last week from http://home.kde.org/~kdelive/ and blogged about at http://www.kdedevelopers.org/node/4176, which contain "openSUSE 11.2 plus all updates, KDE 4.4.1, upstream branding, Nepomuk enabled and Strigi disabled" Paul, are you using the 32 bit or 64 bit image? I had no such problems with the 32 bit image. Yes, that is the version I'm trying to use.
Paul, are you using the 32 bit or 64 bit image? I had no such problems with the 32 bit image.
I've tried the 32bit image because no 64 bit image is available on the site you mentioned above. Paul -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I also have this problem.
Any advice? Thanks,
dd if=KDE-Four-Live.i686-4.4.1-Build10.3.iso of=/dev/sdX Without " bs=4M;sync " Works for me. I don't know whether it is bug or not. The problem persists for me without "bs=4M;sync " as well. Paul -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
