Boot-up log errors/warnings, SUSE v9.1
Hi, I have two interesting places in my boot-up log, where I would need probably some advice how to avoid/fix them in case they are wrong: 1. <6>checking if image is initramfs...it isn't (no cpio magic); looks like an initrd <6>Looking for DSDT in initrd ...No customized DSDT found in initrd! <6>Freeing initrd memory: 1191k freed 2. <5>Trying to move old root to /initrd ... failed <5>Unmounting old root Thanks a lot, Peli

They are not.
1. <6>checking if image is initramfs...it isn't (no cpio magic); looks like an initrd <6>Looking for DSDT in initrd ...No customized DSDT found in initrd!
The initrd looks for a fixed DSDT (Differentiated System Description Table). You dont have one so it says so. See http://acpi.sourceforge.net/dsdt/index.php for more information.
2. <5>Trying to move old root to /initrd ... failed <5>Unmounting old root
You can let the initrd (initial ramdisk) copy its contents over to /initrd to have a look at it afterwards for debugging or whatever. As you dont have the folder /initrd this fails. But does it matter? It's hard for non-experts to tell whether these messages are important, especially when they have exclamation marks after them (normally a sign of something significant). - Richard. -- Richard Kimber http://www.psr.keele.ac.uk/
