Hi! I have the infamous Nvidia-SuSE problem that my computer locks up during log out. I have a freshly installed SuSE 7.3. I did an upgrade the updated the NVIDIA kernel and GLX to the newest one. I still have the lock up. I modified my modules.conf according to the suggestion of the SUSE Support Database with alias char-major-195 NVdriver options NVdriver NVreg_UseKernelAGP=1 (since I have a i815 based motherboard (Asus CUSL-2)). The somuter still locks up if I want to restart X server. It starts up without any problem but as soon as I want to switch to text mode or reboot the lock up occurs. Interestingly, in failsafe mode the problem does not happen. (BTW, what does failsafe do?) Csaba
Please modify your /etc/X11/XF86Config file to reflect the following instead of passing the parameters to the module in modules.conf... Section "Device" BoardName "Unknown" Driver "nvidia" Identifier "Device[0]" Option "backingstore" Option "saveunders" Option "ignoreEDID" "1" Option "NvAgp" "1" Screen 0 VendorName "Unknown" EndSection Notice the "NvAGP" "1" above..this is how I have it and I have no lockups and really no problems at all. I have gone from 2.4.4. up through the various mantel kernels to the new 2.4.13 release that he put up today..and it works fine. :) Cheers! * Csaba Kiss (csakis@ki.se) [011030 13:21]: ->Hi! -> ->I have the infamous Nvidia-SuSE problem that my computer locks up during log ->out.
