Last time I checked even Windows 2000 had a generic driver for this one: http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/products/firewire/fw_adapt/AFW-4300/ It worked like a bomb in SUSE 9.3 i586, so unless they've changed the chipset on it, it should be safe. We have been most happy with UniBrain 400 cards. We also use Adaptec FireConnect 4300 cards with no trouble. Our main use is IEEE1394 cameras running at the full 400 MBit rate. This has worked since Suse 9.3. The only glitch we ever ran into was on 10.0 and a 64-bit install. Don't know the status of that. But the 32-bit SUSEs have always worked fine. -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems AB Ramböll Sverige AB Kapellgränd 7 P.O. I cannot vouchsafe the x86_64 kernel, but on my 32 bit 10.0 I'm using 00:10.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): NEC Corporation uPD72874 IEEE1394 OHCI 1.1 3-port PHY-Link Ctrlr (rev 01) (result taken from lspci,) this setup automatically, I did not have to do anything past installing the hardware.
