[opensuse] Login Screen Won't
Dell XPS M1530 laptop, openSuSE 11.1 32-bit, KDE 4.2 (installed as default without KDE3). Working very well until recently (12 hours ago) when I updated from ../KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop using yast2. Now, when the graphical login screen comes up, I get a message saying "Theme not usable with authentication method 'Generic'" When I OK that, the login screen comes up but without any of the entryboxes & I have to do a console login and startx from there. I don't have a theme set for the login screen; and reverting to the default desktop theme has no effect. After the desktop locks I can't unlock it either (no text entrybox, but the message "unlocking failed"), and I then have to kill X and go through another login as above. It seems a fair bet that something in the update broke things, and no doubt it will get fixed in due course. But is there anything I can do in the meantime to deal with it? (I've looked at pam documentation, but have retired defeated.) The update, incidentally, was one of >100 packages, but among them kde4-kdm-4.2.0-197.1 was replaced by kde4-kdm-4.2.0-197.2 Wellington "Harbour City" NZ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
