Catalog not found while installing from CDs
Greetings, Has anybody encountered any sort of problem while installing using CDs. I have the DVD but this old laptop has a cd drive. What happens is that it cannot find the catalog, so I cannot go further... Cheers, Jimmy www.nui.fr

This has been discussed already but I don't remember what the outcome was. Go to the archives and do a search. Best I can do :-( . Cheers. -- This computer is environment-friendly and is running on OpenSuSE 10.1

Jimmy, It's a known problem trying to install from the CD's with 10.1. Most people use the DVD, so don't get these problems, but everything I've tried installing on from the CDs, something like this happens or it just stops at CD 3 or 4. If you keep trying different things when it gets to that point, it will possibly go on with the install. I got it to install once, after fiddling with it all day. I haven't used the CDs since then nor passed out any copies because of that. With the other problems 10.1 has, I just offer 10.0 CDs instead. Problems such as 10.1 has would certainly scare away and/or frustrate new users wanting to try Linux. You might have better luck from say a network install, if that's possible or with all the CDs copied to a hard drive. regards, Lee
