Hi all, I'm using OpenSuse 10.1 with no updates. I have been pulling my hair out because of issue with HP Deskjet 3920. Suse recognizes the printer OK. Even with a test page which is printed ok. But then when I try to print from OOo writer or any other program, the printer buzzed, blinking, retracted the paper half way, then stops with its lamp blinking. If I press the blinking button it buzzing again, retracted the paper, and stops again. I have restarted Suse, on-off the printer with the same behaviour. I'm curious whether any of you has the same experience? Did you able to resolve it? It "feels like" you're using the wrong printer language to the printer. Maybe you're sending "raw" data to it instead of PostScript or PCL or whatever your printer likes.. Look over the printer driver configuration in CUPS. -- Anders Norrbring Norrbring Consulting

You could try the latest version of hplip, if it supports your printer. There is a list of devices on the webpage. http://hplip.sourceforge.net/supported_devices/index.html http://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/jsmeix/unsupported/hplip/10.1/RPMS/ Sven

Oh boy, I hate it when it comes to hardware problem. It turns out that the printer has a defect cable. After changing the cable, now it can print OK. -- Fajar Priyanto | Reg'd Linux User #327841 | Linux tutorial http://linux2.arinet.org 9:26am up 0:43, 2.6.16.13-4-default GNU/Linux Let's use OpenOffice. http://www.openoffice.org
