[SLE] best Price for 7.0
I was surprised to learn the SuSE now charges almost twice as much for the full version ( 6 cds). Where is the best price for the full (professional) version? Any information on the upgrade version? I have several manuals from previous purchases and really don't need another manual. thanks in advance joe -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
Joe, What you want is the upgrade version. It's $20 cheaper then the Pro Edition, but has all 6 cd's and the DVD with it. It does not have the manuals, freebee's or a box...but it has all the software you will need. It does have the books in PDF and ps format on the CD's .. just not printed. SuSE should have info up on the website ASAP about ordering it. The reason that the Pro. Edition is more expensive now is that SuSE has not raised it's prices in about 4 years..and well, the world gets more expensive as you know. It's like with anything else..gas, food, rent..or any other purchase you would make. Believe me when I say that 7.0 Pro is damn nice..in fact I am looking at it right now. The books that 7.0 comes with are really nice and informative. If you were to buy the Persoanal Edition you don't get as much (3 CD's), but you do get a $10 rebate ..so it would most likely cost about $20 or less for it. I would just go with the upgrade when available..it's your best bet. Also something I would look at is what one gets with Redhat's Pro Edition and what one gets with SuSE..SuSE gives twice as much for 50$ of the price. It's still a good deal. * joe lerch (jl@masonlink.net) [000909 04:35]: -->I was surprised to learn the SuSE now charges almost twice as much for the -->full version ( 6 cds). Is it possible to get the upgrade version from the usual group of software dealers (buy.com, etc.), or is it available only directly from SuSE?
