RE: [SLE] Realplayer G2 and SuSE 6.3
Oh dear, saving ram files does not work to good when you want to listen to live broadcasts...maybe it is to do with setting up the plugins or one of the preferences in realplayer 7? Did you uninstall realplayer g2 before installing realplayer 7? One thing that anoyed me about real is that you have to install the bin file before you can get to read the readme. If I could have seen the readme before running the bin file I would not installed g2 last week and waited till now. Why does real not use the tar archive rather than a .bin? Full release...? It seems except for realplayer 5 a full release of the latest versions is not happening. The glibc 2.0 version is hidden away on real's website, maybe because they do not spend time testing? However the beta redhat rpm is easily available from real's main site, maybe redhat distros get a tested beta realplayer? I just installed RP7 and it kinda works. It opens but when I click on a link from a website and plays the little intro for realplayer and then just stops. I have to save the .ram local and then open file local. Any ideas on what is causing this?
The same thing happens to me. I have tried every trick I knew to get Netscape to pass it the right information. I realize it's a beta, but it doesn't seem like Real tests these "betas" very hard, they always seem to work halfassed .. I will admit that this one looks a lot nicer and it's nice that it plays mp3's..but it seems to me that there are 3 OS's now that deserve man hours put into them .. Windows, Linux and Mac. We shall see how they do when it's a full release. just my 0.02 -- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org SuSE Linux 6.3 (2.2.14) ICQ UIN:49268667 ------------------------------------------------------------ " Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom " --Gen.
