Go to Edit::Preferences On the rightside of the "Listen to a stream" action select the box (it's editable) and fill in 'mplayer -playlist %q' Go to Stream::New Preselection (Ctrl+N). Fill in the fields you wish, and as URL use http://www.dr.dk/netradio/p3-wmp.asx for e.g. P3. Apply, Close and in Preselection you can now chose the station.. Theo -- Theo v. Hi Theo.
I have done what you have written above. Please see the screenshots at: http://www.urbakken.dk, and they are preference.png, preselections.png and tunein.png
Can't see anything here Erik, empty page except "My Webcam", the page source tells the same thing btw.
1. Shall I have the xmms opened ?.
No, afaics xmms doesn't work with Windows Media stream. You need mplayer.
2. If I want to do streaming, I think I shall click on tune in ?.
That's the idea, yes.
3. But its only record that does it. 4. What am I missing ?.
One thing I can think of is the http_proxy setting. Mplayer definitely doesn't like that. If you have that set try (in a terminal) "export http_proxy='';streamtune" . Then try again, you should see the mplayer messages fly by in that terminal window. Theo -- Theo v. This is what I got in my terminal: export http_proxy='';streamtune -bash: streamtune: command not found
Then try again, you should see the mplayer messages fly by in that terminal window.
I will have a look if I'm really using proxy on my server. Can't remember it.

Ok, I see them now. Preference looks ok, but in preselection you have "http://dr/dk.."; note the '/' where a '.' should've been. The tune-in error is strange. Is the directory where 'mplayer' lives in your $PATH? Otherwise try to execute it with the complete path, like e.g. "/usr/local/bin/mplayer -playlist %q". Theo -- Theo v. Ok Theo that helped to change the forward slash with a dot. Now it works. Then obviously mplayer also works. But why do I have the squares with red x's in them, as You can see on the screenshots. Was very nice to get it to work, and thanks for the help. Erik

As I also have the stop and refresh buttons greyd, I cannot stop a running streaming, but have to kill the process shown with ps aux. Why can the reason be for not having the buttons workable ? Erik

In other streams, that you play with xmms, you can stop a stream with that application. Streamtuner seems to amp-out (back-ground) xmms, and in this case mplayer though, so it keeps running when you close streamtuner, and you have to kill it manually. If you use "gmplayer -playlist %q' in preferences, you can start, pause and stop the dr.dk stream in gmplayer. Theo -- Theo v. No idea Erik. When you try 'ldd `which streamtuner`', does it report any missing libraries or something? And when you start it from a command line, does it report any errors?

That doesn't look very healty Erik. Something is wrong with the files-permissions of that application (at least for 1 directory). Here are the permissions as they look on my PC: /opt/gnome/share/streamtuner/ui/ and all of its parent directories are owned by UID root, GID root, chmod 755 like: drwxr-xr-x 8 root root The files in /opt/gnome/share/streamtuner/ui/ are also owned by UID root, GID root, and all have chmod 644 permissions. Check the permissions of /opt/gnome/share and its parents, it's likely that the problem is in one of them.

That does look more like it should, but you shouldn't have to run streamtuner as root.

Then after I started it as kdesu streamtuner: It asked for password. XMMS opened after having clicked on Virgin Radio 121, and You can see the new and more correct picture of the Streamtuner on: http://www.urbakken.dk/Preselecions2.png
That does look more like it should, but you shouldn't have to run streamtuner as root.
That's right.
The stop still doesn't work, but now I can stop it by clicking on the X in the upper right corner of XMMS.
Yes, in a program with a GUI you can control the playing,

What to put behind the ldd ?. I tried it from within an xterm:
streamtuner: error loading image: Failed to open file '/opt/gnome/share/streamtuner/ui/streamtuner.png': Permission denied streamtuner: error loading image: Failed to open file '/opt/gnome/share/streamtuner/ui/logo.png': Permission denied
[..]

That's the streamtuner directory itself, the one with the wrong permissions.

Its installed now, and I hear one of the preinstalled radiostations. Now I have to find out, how to get dr.dk to play there too.

Ack.

Not Gnome, Xfce4. Mailclient is Mutt.
How to start Gnome (9.2)
gnome-session afaik. If you've installed Gnome then SuSE should've added an option te choose Gnome in the display-manager you're using (kdm or gdm). Theo -- Theo v. Hi Erik! I use Kaffeine (from http://packman.links2linux.org/). It works with streams from dr.dk. It needs some xine-rpms and you can find links for the needed ones at the same page at the Packman site. I also have kaffeine-mozilla and xine-browser-plugin installed, but I'm not sure if both of these are needed to get it started from the browser. I use Suse 9.2 with KDE 3.3. I'm listening to DR-P3 right now, started from Firefox. Happy listening, Lennart Jonasson

Just clicking on the link should start a dialog to use xmms. Of course you will need to stop and restart your browser, I use firefox. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 * Only reply to the list please* "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners." -Ernst Jan Plugge

I went to http://www.shoutcast.com and clicked on a link on the left. Perhaps the site you are trying to access is not compatible. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 * Only reply to the list please* "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners." -Ernst Jan Plugge

About all I seem to get clicking anywhere is the graphical play/rewind buttones and "Done" but no audio. dradio-1.2 does work but requires mplayer -- 73 de Donn Washburn Hpage: " http://www.hal-pc.org/~n5xwb " Ham Callsign N5XWB Email: " n5xwb@hal-pc.org " 307 Savoy St. " n5xwb@arrl.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 " http://counter.li.org " #279316

Erik, There is a page that lists alternative URL's http://www.dr.dk/netradio/alternativ/ Like http://www.dr.dk/netradio/alternativ/pls-filer/p3-64.pls Basic thing that you need to do is to make your browser aware of the fact that these links should fire xmms (or another app that understands shoutcast links - like kaffeine) Click on one of the .pls links in mozilla or firefox mozilla and firefox tell me that they recognize this as a Audio Playlist and will offer to open it. - My Mozilla plugins library also includes a realplayer plugin link but realplayer will actually error out. So i entered an alternative 'Open it with' /usr/bin/xmms and with 'OK' off you go. - Firefox offers xmms directly but i can't remember how i got this to work. With mozilla you can set this up directly as a helper application (i miss this really with firefox) edit -> preferences -> navigator -> helper aplications file type (Mime type) is: audio/x-mpegurl extension m3u,pls open it with: /usr/bin/xmms check always 'ask me before handling' (i like to be asked) Note I also have this working with konqueror (also via xmms) The problem with konqueror is plugin handling. It took a long time until i understood this a litle. Actually konqueror is loking to too many plugin directories and crashes on a lot of mime types due to this. What i did is that i reduced this to just mozilla's plugins and realplayer 10. Or to be exact: /opt/mozilla/lib/plugins /usr/local/HelixPlayer/mozilla $MOZILLA_HOME/plugins HTH, Peter Vollebregt

Should be automatic if you installed the xmms-plugin, I installed mine from the install media.

Now the streaming works both in Mozilla and Konqueror. I don't know the reason why it works, but it does. But I cannot get it working in xmms nor in kaffeine. Thanks to all of you that helped me so much. I'm very impressed with so much of help. Erik
