I have it installed. Is there a simple way to activate it and redirect to it via SuSEfirewall2? Thanks, Steve.

How about reading the unoffical SuSEFirewall2 document it is explained there also consider reading the documentation coming with the proxy-suite -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx

Hi. Nice document but I'm getting these errors: /etc/init.d/ftp-proxy start returned 0 (Success.) Starting ftp-proxy..done ftp-proxy [3182] TECH-ERR can't detach daemon konqueror ftp://ftp.suse.com: Message sent: Login using username: anonymous and password: [hidden] Server replied: 530 Login incorrect. Thanks, Steve.

Thanks yet it can not configure every situation yet :-)

looks like soemthing weird is happening here. How is the ftp-proxy running chrooted ? make sure it starts correctly first of all

Please drop bulshit browsers first try with an ftp client like ncftp lukeftp

I do not think so the problem is the proxy-suite as far as I can see -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx

Nope. Can't get rid of this error. Tried restarting ftp-proxy, SuSEfirewall2 (with and without the redirection), inetd (for vsftpd) and removing CHROOT from /etc/vsftpd.conf. Any clues? BTW: my original aim was simply to allow my clients to be able to use ftp out to the internet. At the moment only the server can do that. Steve.
