This one is pretty easy. In /etc/modules.conf, make a line that says: alias char-major-108 ppp_generic And run `depmod -a'.
Any suggestions? I've read that it worked with this modem, but not on my computer :-(
I'm sorry that I can't help much with the modem much, but the one success you had was because of the ppp problem above. I haven't been able to play with any USB modems, yet :(. -- -=|JP|=- Jon Pennington | Atipa Linux Solutions jpennington@atipa.com | http://www.atipa.com Kansas City, MO, USA | 816-241-2641 x121 -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Jim, Try this page, http://www.o2.net/~gromitkc/20000402a.html about 2/3's the way down you will find cardinal Modems. This web site shows compatible and non compatible modems with Linux. Some have been shown to work and some not to work. Others like yours have not been shown either way. It does not say either way if it is supported under Linux but as it is an External it has a good chance. You might want to try Minicom and see if you can get a response from the modem Here is the main page full of good information about WinModems. http://www.o2.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html Best Regards Bryn Joynes -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
