[opensuse] kmail2, moving to a new fresh install on a second user
Due to the problems I have with kmail2 I want to make a new user and install there a new kmail. I want to export the kmail contents and import them in the new user. How to export or archive them? According to the kmail handbook there should be an "archive" possibility. There is a "save as" choice and I used it on one folder. But there is no choice and only a lot of activity which I have canceled in order to find out on the list if that is normal and what and where it is saved and in which format. I want 34 folders to move to the new user. Is that to be done folder by folder? Problems I have with my kmail2 are among others, sending email via has no choices (could have used Message in the toolbar) so yesterday it just send emails to the list from the account which is dedicated as default. The regular asked question which of two emails are to be kept, the right, left or both. Do not see differences. Do not know if these are problems seen by others or that it is the aftermath of a corked emigration from kmail to kmail2. -- Linux User 183145 using LXDE and KDE4 on a Pentium IV , powered by openSUSE 11.4 (i586) Kernel: 3.0.0-7-desktop LXDE WM & KDE Development Platform: 4.7.00 (4.7.0) 12:21pm up 13:55, 3 users, load average: 1.21, 1.24, 1.25 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I've been asking that question in another thread on the KDE PIM mailing list. I can't see the point of having a "Local Folders" and a "Kmail Maildir" when i want my current email folders merged into "Local Folders". If i wanted to keep my existing kmail1 folders as an archive then the format of having 2 (or more) top level folders is a good idea.

The regular asked question which of two emails are to be kept, the right, left or both. Do not see differences. I think they are duplicate emails so you choose one of them. Do not know if these are problems seen by others or that it is the aftermath of a corked emigration from kmail to kmail2. There doesn't seem to be a full scale migration from kmail1 to kmail2. In order to get my email working again, i've had to create new users and use kmail2 as a new set up. When i upgrade to KDE 4.7 none of my current email worked i.e. sending or receiving because it wouldn't connect to the ISP anymore. I deleted my accounts and recreated them and it wouldn't let me enter a password for the email account - i think it had to do with kwallet which i wasnt using on kmail1. I'm pretty much working with emails now but have to bring over my contacts and calendar - fun to come....
