10.0 install problem
I have been trying to install suse 10.0 on my HP ZD7000 all day. It all goes well until it reboots to load disks 2 and up, then the mouse is frozen. I can use the keyboard to complete the install to where it shuts the machine down. Then on restart, I get about 40-50 file transactions that have to be replayed; then I get through the startup to init 5 and the machine then shuts down again. Any ideas? Jim

Hi Jim, I'm not trying to dissuade you from pursuing this problem here, but I just did a Google search on "SUSE Linux on HP ZD7000" and, my goodness, I wish I had *that* kind of enduser feedback and support for /my/ hardware... I'm jealous! You may be able to save a lot of time and frustration by checking some of those sites out. regards, Carl

Thanks Carl. Actually, I spent a lot of time on google and was overwhelmed by the amount of info. I'll try again and try narrow the searches. Jim

I didn't find anything on your search either (except a few solutions to 9.0 problems that I resolved and submitted to various places *G*) and nothing related to 10.0 really. I did do a new install instead of an upgrade and that seems to be working fine so far. Jim

Glad to hear it! I'm really pleased with 10.0, although I've still got 9.3 installed in parallel because I really liked that one, too. It's nice to have a backup to boot into if/when I 'break' the current version. I've already got the slices prepared for 10.1, as well, but I'm going to wait until I've actually got time to install it. See ya 'round SLE! regards, Carl
