CD-R as CD-RW on Suse?
hello I've a HP9200i and on M$ it was possible to take a CD-R as CD-RW with the HP software. Has anyone a idea about the same on a linux system. If yes how? thx, greetings Peter ps.: My OS is Suse 7.3 prof.

You cannot use a CDR as a CDRW (i.e erase the contents to replace). What you are probably meaning is multi-session, which allows you to add files to a written disk. With this, you write to the CDR a track at a time. I suspect this is possible with the command line tools, and it looks like XCD-Roast will have it functioning in their next release (they have the option in 7.3 but say its not implemented yet). HTH

Some windows software allows using a cd-r as a cd-rw: he can delete the files, but he cannot have the space back, of course. Not very useful. If you want to burn a cd in a multi-session mode, check man cdrecord. I think you would need the --nofix and --multi options. Praise
