I installed a new Plextor 12/10/32A CD/RW drive tonight, and followed all the directions given on the SuSE site. I'm able to blank a new CD, but that's about it. The drive won't play an audio CD, the drive keeps spinning when any disc is in the drive, and when I try to mount any CD, I get the error: /dev/cdrecorder: Input/output error mount: you must specify the filesystem type. The system DOES see the drive....I can eject a disc, and it will detect when there's no disc present. The error SEEMS to be in fstab, but I can't find it! Hopefully, someone will spot my error......my fstab follows. THANKS! Try changing auto to iso9660 and usr to user. -- Joe & Sesil Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris "All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen." --Ralph Waldo Emerson
I have tried downloading and installing the patches for version 7.2 from the SuSE ftp site using the YAST2 Online Update module. It started off downloading quite well, but went slower and slower. Eventually, after an hour and three quarters I had downloaded 23% of the patches. So I abandoned it and tried two mirror sites, by going into EXPERT in the "choice of installation source" and entering the URL.. But I couldn't connect to either. Does YOU only work with the sites listed in the program, or does it work with any? The manual doesn't say! I have used one of the sites before (ftp.mirror.ac.uk) to download manually, and it was quite fast. I couldn't download the patches manually as the patches folder was empty and I couldn't decide where else to try to find them. If it took all this time to download a few patches, there is no way I can download the updated KDE! I'll stick with the one SuSE supplied until they bring out the next version. I only have a dial-up modem. Many thanks for any advice. Keith
